East European and Slavic Studies Major

    Vanier’s East European and Slavic Studies major develops students’ knowledge of diverse Slavic cultures in addition to their Russian language skills.
    In this major, students are introduced to the diverse cultures of nations such as Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Russia, Romania, the Czech Republic, Poland, Serbia, Slovenia, Slovakia and Ukraine. They study the history of the Slavic World and develop their skills in Russian, an official international language used for diplomacy and trade in the region. This major is designed for students interested in expanding their cultural and linguistic horizons. It is of particular benefit to those interested in the fields of journalism, politics, business, diplomacy, languages, literature and the arts.
