Privacy

Protection of personal information

The College recognizes the importance of confidentiality and the sensitivity of your personal information. Vanier takes reasonable and appropriate measures to ensure its protection against accidental loss and unauthorized access, use, modification or disclosure. Personal information collected by vaniercollege.qc.ca is handled in accordance with the Act respecting access to documents held by public bodies and the protection of personal information and with the College’s privacy governance rules.

Cookies

The College uses Google Analytics, a web audience measurement tool. Google Analytics uses cookies to collect information on your browsing behaviors. The College uses this information for statistical analysis and to improve browsing experience.

The collected information includes:

  • Truncated IP address
  • Internet service provider
  • Operating system
  • Device type and model
  • Screen resolution
  • Browser information such as type, version and language
  • Region based on IP address
  • Source of entrance to site
  • Pages visited on vaniercollege.qc.ca

This information is available to staff members of the Information Systems, Continuing Education and Communications and Corporate Affairs sectors, responsible for digital marketing and website management and maintenance. It may also be available to external advertising agencies contracted by the College to run certain campaigns.

Advertising

Vanier College uses third party platforms, such as Google and Facebook, to advertise various services. By using the Vanier College website, cookies may also be used to define target audiences based on browsing behaviours. You can modify or block the ads delivered by Google using their Ad Centre service.

Forms

Personal information may be collected via forms that are voluntarily filled out by users wishing to connect with our organization. This information is managed according to our terms and conditions.

The categories of employees that have access to the information collected by online forms are indicated on each form. 

Some information may be hosted outside of Canada. When this is the case, Vanier College has ensured privacy terms and conditions that satisfy the requirements of the Act respecting access to documents held by public bodies and the protection of personal information. 

Additionally, the retention of this information is managed according to the College’s retention schedule and any specific terms that apply to the form in question.

The College’s website includes links to external sites. The College is not responsible for the content of these sites or their privacy practices and invites you to read their privacy policies.

 

Terms and conditions

Vanier College may occasionally use forms to collect personal information as part of activities it offers to members of its community or the public. The following terms of use outline the conditions that apply to users providing their information using these forms in addition to all users navigating the Vanier College website. Vanier College may update or modify these terms of use at any time.

Information is provided voluntarily by users filling out a form on Vanier College’s website or by interacting with the Vanier College website.
