Vanier Gardens

The Vanier Gardens are located between the D and N buildings.

Our vision and mission

We are custodians of Vanier’s environment aiming to foster educational interactions between our community and the natural world.

Our mission is to create a permaculture garden in the St‐Laurent urban community that serves as a living laboratory benefiting education, well‐being, biodiversity, environmental awareness, and food security.

The Gardens as a Living Lab

The Vanier Gardens are first and foremost an educational tool, which is why we call them a Living Laboratory. Indeed, it is very much alive, as can be seen on our videos and photos, and it is a place for teachers to expose their students to experiential and outdoor learning while also addressing a specific course objective. Examples include, but are not limited to, activities developed for History, Anthropology, Biology and Physics, thanks to an ECQ grant.

Volunteer with us

Volunteers are welcome to join us during our growing season. Whether you’re a student, a member of staff/faculty or a member of the public, all are welcome!
