CPE Vanier Daycare

About

Centre de la Petite Enfance (CPE) Vanier is a workplace childcare centre that serves the families of Vanier College. Located next door to campus, we offer quality service based on developmentally appropriate practices, helping each child reach their fullest potential. The centre accepts children from 9 months to 5 years of age, with a total capacity of 80. While CPE Vanier prioritizes the children of its staff, college employees and students, it is not an official service of Vanier College and therefore cannot guarantee places for all families in need.

CPE Vanier began in 1971 as an informal, parent co-op service offered on campus. Founded by teachers Greta Hoffman Nemiroff and Allana Stalker, the co-op was created to support working mothers and students at the college. In 1979, the service was incorporated as Vanier Daycare, with a permit to serve 30 children. In 2004, the centre reopened its doors to welcome 60 children in a brand new building. Six years later, the building was extended to accommodate an additional 20 children. Today, CPE Vanier is working on plans to build a second centre next door, which will allow the daycare to double its capacity and meet the growing needs of the community.
