This course focuses on four key aspects of language: listening, speaking, reading and writing. Students will work on grammar and vocabulary exercises through peer work activities. Many activities are done in groups to help each student feel at ease to practice their new language skills. This course also includes cultural activities, which allow students to use what they learn in class with locals. At the beginner levels, some topics covered include greetings and introductions, asking for directions, telling time, useful phrases for shopping, eating out, making appointments and so on. In addition to language skills, students learn foundational academic skills, such as giving presentations and writing short essays.
