Food, Fun and MUSIC at the first Sheldon Sazant Memorial Fundraiser

September 26, 2023

Get ready for what should be one of the best events of the year – the first Sheldon Sazant Memorial Fundraiser coming up on Thursday, September 28th, 2023.  Tickets for the Fundraiser include music, award winning food from Lattuca Barbecue, and drinks. All proceeds go to supporting the Vanier College Music School.

A year ago, Vanier College opened the Music School.  Since then over 100 students have taken music lessons through the school, the only English-speaking public music school in Montreal, and over $30,000 in scholarships have been distributed!

“The need for affordable music education keeps on growing since school bands and music classes are disappearing at the primary and secondary school level.  At Vanier College, our goal is to continue to support music education by keeping it accessible and inclusive because we know music can transform, uplift and inspire our community,” says Alena Perout, Dean, Faculty Arts, Business and Social Science.

The Sheldon Sazant Memorial Fundraiser was named after Steve’s Music Store manager Sheldon Sazant, whose passing has been deeply felt throughout the music community. The fund provides scholarships, subsidies and instruments to both Vanier College and local elementary and high school students who attend the Vanier College Music School.

The fundraiser evening will feature a variety of music styles, for all tastes and all ages!  From mellow and jazzy, to folk and rock, the event will showcase Vanier College talent (graduates and staff) headliner, Montreal’s own Damn Truth, DJ Wes and MC Alex, singer Gabriella Laberge, Station House 4, and more surprise guests who will keep the place hopping all evening.

For reservations and additional information on the event, contact Betty-Ann at [email protected].  Doors open at 5pm at Le Studio TD, 305 Ste Catherine St West (Quartier des spectacles). Tickets range from $100 to $300, most of which is tax deductible.
