Congratulations to Patricia Severeyn Becerra for winning the newly created Riopel et Associés Architectes $1000 scholarship. This prize is awarded to a Vanier architectural technology student who has shown perseverance and determination during their studies. Patricia is the inaugural winner of this new scholarship that will be offered each year.

Patricia immigrated to Montreal from Venezuela at the age of 12 years old, and had visa issues that forced her out of Vanier last year (putting a toll on her mental health). Despite it all, she came back last semester filled with determination. She is on the Dean’s Honour roll while being a student athlete, working a part-time job, and volunteering in the department. The Architectural Technology Department is immensely proud of everything that Patricia has accomplished.

“We believe it is important to encourage and highlight the perseverance of each student. We are proud to contribute to Vanier College’s efforts to reduce the obstacles that might stop students and future professionals from reaching their full potential. We’re happy to help Patricia Severeyn Becerra to pursue her academic and professional goals,” states Riopel et Associés Architectes.

“Our department is grateful for the support received by Riopel et Associés Architectes, in helping to educate and motivate the next generation of architectural technologists. We already work closely with companies and organizations for our internship program, and we are hoping to expand our scholarship offerings with the help of firms like Riopel. We are sincerely grateful for Riopel’s support for our students,” states Michael Lancione, Coordinator of the Architectural Technology program.
