Vanier College and McGill University co-host the 2018 Sustainability in Higher Education in Canada conference

Under the theme “Campus as a Living Lab”, Vanier College and McGill University will be hosting the 2018 Sustainability in Higher Education in Canada conference, May 22-25 in Montreal.

A key focus of the conference will be the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals and how colleges and universities can work toward achieving them.

The conference is a partnership between Canadian College and University Environmental Network (CCUEN) and Canadian Alliance of College and University Sustainability Professionals (CUSP).

This year’s Keynote Speaker is Amy Luers, the Executive Director of Future Earth (http://www.futureearth.org/news/future-earth-names-amy-luers-new-executive-director).

The Keynote Listener is Meghan Fay-Zahniser, the Executive Director of the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE).

Sessions on May 23-24 include Campuses as Living Labs, Research Perspectives and Priorities for Environmental Educators and Sustainability Professionals, Operational Perspectives and Priorities, Curriculum and Student Experience, Social Justice Perspectives and Priorities, and Partnerships for the Sustainable Development Goals.

May 25 includes network-specific activities for CCUEN, CUSP, and regional networks. CCUEN activities will include environmental program overviews from member institutions, discussions about field schools and experiential learning opportunities, employer needs and how programs can prepare students for employment, and the CCUEN annual general meeting.

May 22 includes optional campus tours with a sustainability theme.

Registration is $225 per person for the main conference program (May 22-24), plus $25 for CCUEN members for May 25 ($75 for non-CCUEN members).
