April 23, 2024

Vanier College is pleased to announce that several students who participated in the recent UDEM Game Jam walked away with prizes.

UDEM Game Jam, held March 22-24, 2024, is a competition linking science, education and games, that challenges participants to create a science education game that will revolutionize the way we learn science, in 48 hours.

The game was a chance for students to meet new people, learn from speakers, expand their network, and simply enjoy themselves and have fun. In all, some 80 students from several Cegeps and Montreal universities took part in the activity.

In designing a science education game, the aim was to find a way to transform long, boring, lessons into fun and create engaging activities, make learning more accessible, build the next amazing science game, and win prizes worth a total of $1500.

The team of Vanier students who won first prize for a chemistry video game named “Goo”, consisted of Sébastien Therriault, Sunny Chen, Eric Toy, Kevin Deng, Ahmet Yusuf Yildrim, and Cihao Zhang.

Kaolin Stacey, a Vanier student who was part of another team, also won first prize for a biology video game named “Au centre du neuron”.

Each student won a $100 cash prize. Congratulations to all the participants and winners.
