Vanier’s Professional Music and Song Techniques program prepares students to perform, compose, arrange and record Jazz and Pop music.

In this program, students learn to improvise, compose and interpret songs and develop their knowledge of different musical genres. They study music history and theory and master their technique in their principal instrument (or voice). Through courses in software notation and production, students also develop the technical skills needed to work in a professional recording studio.

The program offers students two streams: Composition and Arrangement (551.AA) and Performance (551.AB). In their first year, students take the same courses as those in Pre-university Music (501.A0). Our students benefit from the expertise of our renowned faculty and state-of-the-art facilities which include two digital recording studios, practice rooms, a recital hall with two grand pianos and a 400-seat auditorium. Entrance scholarships are offered to students who achieve the highest audition grade in their instrument or voice category.
