In this program, students learn the fundamentals of finance and dive into diverse fields of insurance. In addition to taking general business courses, they study subjects like investment planning and wealth management, personal and commercial insurance, and risk assessment. This knowledge is applied during a 4-week internship in the final semester. Accredited by the Autorité de Marchés Financiers (AMF), the program prepares students to write professional exams required by employers in the financial and insurance sectors.
As the only college offering the program in English in Quebec, Vanier is uniquely positioned to prepare students to work in a bilingual environment.
This field is best suited to those who enjoy problem-solving, data analysis and working with others. Professionals describe themselves as advocates and educators, using their expertise to help clients prevent and recover from losses. Graduates work in banking, as insurance claims adjusters (individuals who negotiate settlements) and underwriters (individuals who calculate client risk and set pricing), among other roles.
